Was I channeling Neil Diamond just now? Perhaps. Happy New Year! Yeah, I know it's practically February already.Oops. The year of 2017 was equally good and bad. FINALLY got a great permanent job, fell in and out of love for the first time with a farmer, went to my first hockey game and FINALLY got my wisdom teeth out. All i know is i am super excited about 2018. So far it's off to a pretty good start...except for my creative side.
I did spend most of 2017 trying to revive my creative life and you can't force yourself to paint or create...at least i can't.. my work turns out awful. I went to the museum, i'd breeze through art books, watch art documentaries and even went to arts n crafts fairs...nothing. Until i decided to celebrate New Years in DC and went to the National Gallery's East Building and the Hirshorn. That trip inspired me so much. Problem is I have all these ideas for drawings and art but they get into a knot in my mind and i can't figure out how to untangle and get them accomplished. Then i start overthinking and worrying that i'll do all of this art and then no one will want it. Point is i won't know unless i try. Like Yoda says...
"Do or do not, there is no try".
Main struggle is I am not a graphic designer. I'm old school. Kinesthetic. I like to paint with brushes and buy pads of smooth bristol board and get excited when i see a sweet watercolor pan set. Since November my mentor, Olivier, and i have been trying figure out how to get my natural work into a digital format. From photographing to scanning...it's been a frustrating process..hence why a lot of my store right now is based off of typography and less of my actual artwork. We are working on this.
So i appreciate all the great and encouraging emails and am thankful for my fans. Let's see if i can do this! LOL.
